It has been interesting to follow the changing trends in the training needs of businesses and individuals over the past few years in South Africa.
20 Years ago companies were providing Theory Education and then On the Job Skills Training
12 Years ago the emphasis was on Skills Training and the individual was expected to do self study for the Education and Theory Elements
8 years ago companies were still prepared to send their staff to conferences lasting 3 days and more and costing R8,000 ++
Today business can no longer afford, nor are they prepared to:-
- let their staff out of the office for more than 2 days at a time
- pay the old fees -- R1,700 per day is starting to look like the limit
Today Business are also looking for
- Quick and Concise Theoretical Inputs so that the new influx of staff can get to grips with the concepts
- Thereafter they are aging looking for One or Two Day Skills training Interventions with possible Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Updates in 4 to 6 monthly intervals.
The challenge for us Trainers and Developers is therefore to fulfill this need.
To this end I have developed a number of 1/2 and 1 day seminars and workshops and the details of these can be found on my web site www.adolph.co.za
How are you reading this trend?
